Aside from C-Pen Keyboard functionality, the Connect Desktop app features Text Reader and Scan to File functions. Text can be set to be read out automatically or only when prompted to. It is possible to listen to full/multiple sentences and paragraphs or a single word. One time or repeatedly, as required. Scanned text can also be saved to text files and retrieved at a later point in time and re-listened to. A nice feature to support learning.
Download Connect Desktop app, then run/open/execute the downloaded .exe file to install Connect Desktop app.

Connect Chrome extension is OS independent and runs on Chrome web browser.
Connect Chrome extension is installed from Chrome Web Store. Once installed it opens as a (left side) panel in the open tab and uses Chrome’s built-in Bluetooth services to connect to the C-Pen Connect.
The extension is OS independent and nothing is required to be installed locally on the computer.
Connect Chrome extension can be used for multiple purposes; assistive reading, productivity and collaboration.
It can be set up to read scanned text out aloud, either automatically or when prompted. It is easy to use side by side with online collaboration services like e.g. Google Doc, MS Word online, OneNote and Evernote and is a perfect tool to boost productivity.
This is how it works…

Download Connect Desktop app
After download, open the .dmg file. To install, drag the Connect Desktop icon onto the Application folder icon.

Your LingoPen
A micro-USB cable (included in the LingoPen gift box)
A computer (MAC, Windows or Linux)
Current software version of your LingoPen
Go to Settings\System Information\Version and check Software version
Upgrades are incremental which means that you may have to upgrade several times to reach latest. Each upgrade may take 10-30 minutes subject to how much new stuff we have included.
Before starting the upgrade, connect LingoPen to a computer in U-disk mode and verify available disk space to be more than 2GB.
To get started, click on the tab below that shows your LingoPen’s current software version.
Congrats! You have the latest version.
Your LingoPen is possible to upgrade to version 7.2.04
To proceed, download THIS upgrade file.
Save the downloaded .zip
Right click and Open the zip file to view the content.
Select Extract all content.
Connect LingoPen to your computer in U-disk mode.
Copy updatesys_7.2.04.BIN to LingoPen U-disk.
Eject LingoPen U-disk and disconnect it from the computer USB.
Navigate to Settings\Software Upgrade on LingoPen. Select Yes to confirm to upgrade.
When upgrade is done, LingoPen reboots and you are good to go.
Your LingoPen is possible to upgrade to version 7.2.01
To proceed, download THIS upgrade file.
Save the downloaded .zip
Right click and Open the zip file to view the content.
Select Extract all content.
Connect LingoPen to your computer in U-disk mode.
Copy updatesys_7.7.01.BIN and sysdict.BIN to LingoPen U-disk.
Eject LingoPen U-disk and disconnect it from the computer USB.
Navigate to Settings\Software Upgrade on LingoPen. Select Yes to confirm to upgrade.
When upgrade is done, LingoPen reboots and you are good to go.
The C-PEN Connect app downloaded in the previous step includes a wizard on this topic.

Power on C-PEN Connect by pressing the Power button (item#4 in the device description) for 5 seconds. Wait around 20 seconds for the LED indicator (item #3 in the device description) to switch to flashing BLUE.
The app will now connect to the pen, and the BLUE LED will turn to steady light.
Now we are ready to scan.
Everything and anything scanned will end up in the C-PEN Connect app “workspace”.
Text may be SAVED in a local text file. C-PEN Conect app features embedded (offline) translation and a generic SHARE function enabling:
Upload text/file to a cloud drive.
Share text/file with a friend.
It is also possible to have the text on the workspace READ OUT loud by means of iOS system TTS.

In Bluetooth settings, click the option to pair/add a new device.
When device BT10 shows up, click on it to pair.

The app will now connect to the pen, and the BLUE LED will turn to steady light. Now we are ready to scan.

Your ExamReader
A micro-USB cable

Current software version and serial number of your ExamReader
Go to Settings\System Information\Version and check Software version
Serial number is printed on the ExamReader box and on the back side of the ExamReader itself.
To get started, click on the tab below that shows your ExamReader’s current software version.
Congratulation. Your ExamReadr has the latest firmware.
If ExamReader serial number is 241531903xxxxxxx or higher, it can be updated to latest version (7.1.76).
NOTE: the same download file applies independent if using Windows, MAC or Linux – except that the included upgrade exe file is for Windows only.
To proceed, download THIS upgrade file.
Save the downloaded .zip file. This is a large file and it will take some time to download unless you have a really speedy internet connection.
Right click and Open the zip file to view the content. Check here for additional instructions or if you use MAC/Linux.
Right click and select Open the .exe file.
Select Extract all content.
In the new window, right click and Open ExamReaderFWUpgrade.exe to run it.
Follow instruction provided in the upgrade tool.

Download firmware version 7.1.73.
Unzip and extract the file with .bin extension. Place it in a folder of your choice on your computer (e.g. in the Download folder or on the Desktop).
Copy the .bin file to the USB drive (“ExamReader drive”).
Right click on the portable “ExamReader drive” on the computer and select to Eject it.
Disconnect ExamReader from the computer.
Press OK button thre (3) times and accept (Yes) to upgrade.
The upgrade may take 10 minutes and ExamReader will reboot automatically when done.
These ExamReaders are unfortunately not upgradeable.
All C610D/DictionaryPens are possible to upgrade to latest version.
Download and unzip latest firmware file and proceed according to Upgrade below.
For version history, click HERE.
Make sure the reader Pen battery is charged to at least 50%.
Connect the DictionaryPen to your computer and select U-disk mode.
Copy the two files extracted from the downloaded firmware (sysdict.bin & updatesys_7.y.xx.bin) to the C610R drive (if there are two drives pick the large one).
When copying is finished, eject the drive and disconnect it (unplug USB cable).
On the DictionaryPen, navigate to Settings/Software Upgrade and press OK button to select.
Press yes and wait for the upgrade to finish. This may take up to 10 minutes.
