Does MAC OSX refuse installation?
You get error message “[App] cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information” or a reference to “unidentified developer“.

Aside from C-Pen Keyboard functionality, the Connect Desktop app features Text Reader and Scan to File functions. Text can be set to be read out automatically or only when prompted to. It is possible to listen to full/multiple sentences and paragraphs or a single word. One time or repeatedly, as required. Scanned text can also be saved to text files and retrieved at a later point in time and re-listened to. A nice feature to support learning.
Download Connect Desktop app, then run/open/execute the downloaded .exe file to install Connect Desktop app.

This is how it works…C-Pen Connect & MAC
Two different solutions are available for using C-Pen Connect together with MAC OSX – C-Pen Core and Connect Desktop app. Both apps features our C-Pen Keyboard function, allowing text to be scanned into any app on your computer. Connect Desktop app does in addition also support (assistive) text reading and supports saving text to files. Which is the better one depends on your preferred usage scenario.
This is our traditional digital highlighter/productivity solution, and it is basically a device driver that links the pen scanner to the computer, the operating system and your favorite apps. Once C-Pen Core is installed and linked to Connect pen scanner, you simply open an application of your choice and start scanning. C-Pen Core is a great option if you like to have a non-intrusive and transparent integration between the pen and your computer.
Download C-Pen Core
If you are prohibited to install C-Pen Core due to security settings – go to System Preferences\Security and Privacy\General and allow installation of non-App Store apps.
When installation is completed, go to System Preferences\C-Pen Core settings and check Enable Input Method and Text to cursor check boxes.
To make sure C-Pen Core is properly setup and enabled, go to System Preferences\C-Pen Core Settings and make sure that Enable Input Method and Text to Cursor check boxes are selected. Optionally, if scanned text shall be read out aloud, also select Text to Speech checkbox. When C-Pen Connect is powered up, it *always* need to be actively connected from C-Pen Core as demonstrated in the video.

OCR is missing
Just installed C-PEN Core and it does not start properly?
Is there a “OCR is missing ” error message?
The later versions of C-PEN Core uses a newer version of the OCR engine (Optical Character Recognition) and if a previous version of C-PEN Core has been installed and not properly removed – then the new OCR is not properly installed. If this happens, or the OCR is not properly installed for any other reason this message is shown.
To resolve it we need to make sure that any old OCR is removed and the new (which is included in the C-PEN Core installer) is installed.
These steps apply to Windows 10 but are pretty similar for earlier versions of Windows.
