If software is installed properly and the scan light turns on as supposed but no text appears in your app – check these things…
If all seems to be in order, still try to click/toggle the check boxes and reboot. This especially applies if you have had previous versions of either of the apps installed on your MAC.
App can’t be opened because Apple can’t check it for malicious softwareDoes MAC OSX refuse installation?
You get error message “[App] cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information” or a reference to “unidentified developer“.
Normally this is caused by Privacy & Security settings of your system. To get past it, follow information in THIS article
Connect Desktop (Windows)
Aside from C-Pen Keyboard functionality, the Connect Desktop app features Text Reader and Scan to File functions. Text can be set to be read out automatically or only when prompted to. It is possible to listen to full/multiple sentences and paragraphs or a single word. One time or repeatedly, as required. Scanned text can also be saved to text files and retrieved at a later point in time and re-listened to. A nice feature to support learning.
Download Connect Desktop app, then run/open/execute the downloaded .exe file to install Connect Desktop app.

Download Connect Desktop app
After download, open the .dmg file. To install, drag the Connect Desktop icon onto the Application folder icon.
